Meet the Founder

Our founder brings lived experience, clinical expertise, and a deep commitment to the community that shaped her.
Chief Executive Officer
Angela Uzondu, MSW, LCSW
Angela Uzondu is of Nigerian descent and was born and raised in South Central Los Angeles. Today, she works in the same underserved community that shaped her, bringing a deep personal commitment to creating meaningful, positive change. Throughout her career, Angela has served diverse populations, including foster youth, older adults, and adults living with mental illness.
Angela earned a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from California State University, Northridge in 2009 while working in the Los Angeles Unified School District’s Early Education Division. Driven by her passion for enriching the lives of young children, she went on to earn associate degrees in Child Development, Liberal Arts, and Interdisciplinary Studies from Los Angeles Southwest College in 2014, along with her Site Supervisor credential.
While serving children and families from low-income communities through the County of Los Angeles, Angela continued her education at the University of Southern California’s Suzanne Dworak-Peck School of Social Work. She earned her Master of Social Work in 2017 with a concentration in mental health, then applied her expanded expertise to support at-risk children and families in the community where she was raised.
From 2019 through 2024, Angela dedicated significant time to the Raising the Bar Youth Foundation, mentoring children and young adults through career development, financial literacy, confidence building, and essential life-skills education. Her leadership is grounded in lived experience, integrity, and an enduring commitment to helping individuals and communities thrive.
In 2025, Angela founded Over and Beyond, bringing together her professional expertise, lived experience, and longstanding commitment to South Central Los Angeles. The organization represents the next chapter of her service—turning years of direct work with children and families into an enduring platform for opportunity, dignity, and community-led progress.
In 2026, Angela became a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. Her clinical training strengthens Over and Beyond’s ability to deliver trauma-informed, person-centered programs that recognize the relationship between mental health, stability, and long-term opportunity. She brings this perspective to program development, wellness initiatives, community partnerships, and service delivery, helping ensure the organization’s work is ethical, responsive, and grounded in the real needs of the people it serves.
